I'm looking at a transmission for my 35. I found a transmission that the owner claims to be a 1935 but some of the numbers do not match the early v8 book. Can anyone help me identify this transmission. Here are the numbers: case 18-7006,v8 book 18-7005; gear shift housing 40-7222, v8 book 40-7204. There are no grease fittings on the clutch release shaft and it has a S shaped gear shift lever. Another oddity is the vin #. It starts with an 18 but the production number is too low. The number starts in the eight hundred thousand not one million eight hundred thousand. The inspection cover has a hole but no grease cup and a greaseless clutch release bearing. Thanks for helping me decode this transmission.

I'm sure that all the features you describe would clinch it but to me the serial number is the key. *18-800000* is a number midway in the 1934 production run. Therefore I would say you have a 1934 transmission.

Thanks 42wagon. That clarifies a lot.
