Topic: 34 ford front door window installation

I am working to install new glass in the doors of my 34 5-window coupe, and having a little trouble figuring it out. Do I first glue the glass and webbing in the channel, and then install it the door? Or, do I install the glass channel alone in the door window mechanism, and then install webbing & glass in the channel (with window mechanism rolled up to top of door frame)?
The supplier sent a tube of weatherstrip aadhesive along with the webbing. If you have done this before, I would appreciate any advise.
Thanks, John

I think Dennis Carpenter's Catalog has a glass installation page in the back of the catalog.
I always see where the glass was in the old channel and put the glass in channel before putting
it in the door. (Make sure the glass sets the same distance back in the channel. Because the
34 has tha feature where the glass goes up then back to create a vent at the front edge of the
glass, positon in the chamel is very important. Measure befoe you glue.

Thanks for the info. I'll go to Carpenter website and see if I can find that info

Here is a link to the instructions used in Carpenter's catalog. They came from the shop manual and are more relevant to the cars made after 1940.

You do not need to glue the glass into the channel, the glass setting tape will hold it without glue. Maybe one of the guys that has restored a 34 will chip in with better instructions deplored to the 34.

Thanks, I did wonder about having to use glue. I need to study the '40 ford door detail a little more, it might have some tips that apply to the '34.
Again, thanks. I am learning as I go along, John
