Tom o, and all; PROBLEM SOLVED!!

A car show friend, that was a Ford mechanic in Virginia, prior to moving near me in Florida, Told me that early on the steering wheels could be put on in ANY POSITION, then later on KEYED FOR ONLY ONE POSITION, and then later ANY POSITION again.

Well, I pulled my steering wheel off to see IF IT COULD BE PUT ON IN ANY POSITON, AND IT COULD!! I then , with the wheels straight ahead, pulled the steering wheel, and put it back on in the correct position! I thought it was KEYED TO ONLY ONE POSITION, because when I worked for VW as a mechanic, in the 60's, they were KEYED TO ONLY ONE POSTION, AND I DIDN'THINK THAT IT WOULD EVER GO BACK TO BEING ABLE TO GO ON IN ANY POSITION!
THANKS ALL, FOR ANY HELP THAT YOU GAVE ME!!
Regards, Steve Lee
