I like to look at old movies and seeing our cars back in the day when they were new or close to it. I recorded a movie recently that was filmed in 1936 and one of the stars, if you will, was a 36 phaeton. We talk about accessories on the forum from time to time, about what's proper and what's not, so I thought it would be of interest to someone if I listed the large amount this 36 had... Greyhound, Foglamp mounted where license plate should be, License plate mounted on bumper in front of grill, Twin spotlights, Hinge mirrors with special arms to clear spotlights, Wind wings, duel wipers, Fender skirts, White walls. The view of the dash showed, Radio, Ash tray next to radio, Lever for overdrive, knob for heater next to glove box and Glove box clock. I'm not sure the color of the car, it looked very light in a black and white move, possibly a spring color because the dash looked woodgrain. I'm not familiar with phaetons, perhaps some items like wind wings would be stock? not sure. Also, I noticed that while the wheels were painted body color, the hubcaps looked very dark possibly black. I wouldn't want to be a judge on the concourse with this one. On another note, a friend gave me a picture of his fathers 36 standard coupe when it was brand new, a friend was sitting in the rumble seat and it had white walls. My 36 doesn't even have an oil pressure gauge but I'm not going to feel guilty adding a greyhound after all. Thank's Frank

Hello Frank--- If truth be known, I'll bet that there are PLENTY of Club Members - me included - who watch old movies (TCM?) just to check out the old cars in their heyday. What was the name of the movie that you watched, that had the phaeton in it? I'm not a 36 guy, but some of my Club Members can probably help you out on the proper accessories question that you raised. Tom

Hi Tom. The movie was called " Reefer Madness", It was about the problems smoking marijuana can cause especially among teenagers. 1936, fast forward to 2020, many states are trying to legalize recreational marijuana and at the same time trying to get people to quit smoking. I don't have a college degree so I'm unable to figure it out. Stay safe and have a great holiday season! Frank

Oh Good Grief-- "Reefer Madness" is a classic film - a truly classic film full of misinformation. The 1st time I saw it was in high school in the 1960's. It was meant to scare the h*$% out of the students as to the horrible dangers of marijuana. Most of my classmates roared with laughter during its presentation. I live in California, which is one of the stupid states that has legalized this garbage! Why - I'll never know. Next time I see it on TCM, I'll grit my teeth and try to ignore the awful script and acting performances, so I can check out the phaeton.
