Topic: Oil pan seal retainer

Airfritz    -- 11-29-2020 @ 10:16 AM
I have a truck oil pan and a 50 ish motor that I’m trying to ‘properly’ install it on. Since I have never seen or used this ‘retainer’ I’m looking for some information on how to use it and install it. The retainer also has a seal of sorts on it and needs replacement. So far I have not found any information on this thing and need some help. The truck starter plate is also part of this
Thank you in advance for any help

These photos might help. Check with Van Pelt sales for info about truck pan seals:

My guess is that the part is the converter housing lower cover (1M -7991) for the Fordomatic transmission.

Here are the oil pan illustrations for the Mercury and truck 49-53 engines and neither of them have a part that looks like the one in your photo.
