It is with a very sad heart that I have to announce that the Ford world lost a very important person on November 14, 2020. Dennis Carpenter has died. He was a friend, sponsor, businessman, and a collector that in some way touched all of us and advanced our hobby in a big way. For 24 years he graciously found space during the Fall Hershey Meet for the Early Ford V-8 Club to promote and sign up members. He was always willing to sponsor and support National Meets of the Early Ford V-8 Club and other clubs. He was my friend and always had that wonderful smile and hearty handshake upon seeing you once again. We will miss you and what you have given to the Ford collector hobby Dennis. Bless you. Dennis was my first choice when I needed parts. On most items his reproductions were the best available and as an owner of a 40 Mercury, his store was the only one that reproduced essential parts to restore a Mercury. I met Dennis for the first time in at Tulsa in 1978, when I was looking for a windshield gasket for my Mercury. He gave me a copy of his catalog for 1940 Mercury parts and I ordered the seal and a set of knobs from him. Since then I have admired the man for his ethics and dedication to helping others restore their cars. I will miss seeing him at the meets. Tom

Dennis was a great friend to the Early Ford V-8 Club and to the Early Ford V-8 Foundation. His reproduction parts put a lot of old Fords back on the road and was great help to restorers and enthusiasts alike. He will be missed by many.

Great photo, Bruce; I wish I had taken the time to have had one taken with him over the decades we knew one another. Without his initiatives over the years we would never have been able to go as far as we have with this hobby. We owe him a great debt, but first and foremost Dennis was always the perfect gentleman and the human race has lost one of its best.

I bought a NOS grill for my '50 Ford in Dearborn in 2003 from the Dennis Carpenter booth. A few years later, I was sitting with Dennis at an awards banquet, I don't remember where, and I told him about the purchase. He asked me if I got the mounting kit with it and when I said no, he took down my address and a few days later, I received the kit in in the mail. He was class act! Cecil/WV
