18-1732501 is a serial number that was stamped on the upper flat surface of a transmission as a vehicle was assembled. This number was also stamped on the driver's side top frame rail by the steering box and also under the body and at the kick up of the frame over the rear axle.
18-1732501 looks like it would have been stamped during the month of April 1935. (from information in the Francis and DeAngelis book - The Early Ford V-8 As Henry Built It).

If you are getting involved with early ford V8 transmissions you might want to checkout VanPelt Sales at www.vanpeltsales.com. Mac is a great guy to deal with and is very knowledgeable. His book, "The Ins and Outs of Early Ford Transmissions" is in my opinion the go to source on the subject.
