Topic: vinyl mold

I got a car that has been setting for a couple of years. It has some white mold on some seating areas. Other than that things look very good. I know there are a lot of mold cleaners on the market. Has anyone had good luck with a product that won't discolor the the vinyl??

Thanks

Tom, it would be difficult to guarantee no discoloration, but you can yourself experiment on a hidden area, to be followed with full coverage of all vulnerable areas of upholstery:

A weak solution of white vinegar and water should neutralize and prevent future mold. Do not saturate, and do not scrub, but merely wipe with a rag dampened with the solution. Assure adequate ventilation following, and your car will also smell fresher going forward.

I've seen that mold condition before, on my cars plus others. They were all "amoralled".
I don't use that anymore and the problem has not recurred.
Alan's recommendation is good. Make sure that the vinegar solution is really weak and don't leave it on. Wipe it off right away and then go back over it with a rag dampened with distilled water.
