Topic: Open for some ideas

I imagine this problem has come up many times. My '36 is not a fully restored vehicle, I have added several items that require routing wires or tubes through the original firewall hole. It doesn't take long before the small factory grommet can't accommodate all of the wires and tubes. Rather than re-route items by drilling new holes in the floor or firewall is there a possible type of split sh*ll container (plumbing, electrical?), that would enclose this knot of wires

Thanks

I know what you mean, and don't have a clue as to how they did it at the factory, ...but they did. I wound up splitting my grommet on the bottom side to get it installed, but then, I was impatient to get 'er done.

  Patience my friend, patience.
All of the proper items can be routed through the grommet.
I might suggest that you place all of the proper things through the grommet and only then install the grommet to the dash panel.
Many, many of us with '36s have done this procedure with perfect results.
If you insist on adding more than stock items through the same hole, well, it's simple math... you can't stuff 10# of cr*p in a 5# bag.

I understand what you are suggesting. but to do this would require a massive de-wiring to get everything through the grommet. This could be asking for trouble. I would like to avoid this with a split type of encasement. By doing it this way no de-wiring would be required and I would avoid extra holes in the firewall, such as the car in the picture has.
