Optima Red Top. I've had one in my '40 for five years, and it uses the "stock" regulator setting (i.e., 7.3v).

MAKE SURE. before you buy to measure the hight, or you may have to modify the battery box,
KEEP ON TRUCKIN 37 RAGTOPMAN
I have been using AUTOZONES 6 V battery's for years with out any problems,in a few cars, and did not have to buy anything special to get them to work,
cost is about $80.00 if you replaced evey 3 years you will not have any corroding, its when you leave them in too long that you have problems.with corrosian.
just drive the car more, and run the car once in a while, leaving the car sit more then 3 months with out running is asking for problems.

If you go to the Optima battery, you may have to lay it on its side or modify your battery box. You should also consider getting the voltage regulator that looks like a cutout to fit on your generator. It is available from Fun Projects.
