  I cannot get grease into a couple of my spring shackles on my 49 Ford F-1 Zerk is open-thanks.

  sometimes heat is your friend for this. warm the shackle to soften the grease/crud that is there then pump in new silicone grease, won't harden like regular grease

  maybe replace the zerk fitting sometimes they get blocked with crud to and can be cleaned by removing it and then pump grease thru it before reinslalling

  Replacement of the shackles is a sure cure for your problem. Check C&G. Their parts are good quality, and reasonably priced. Many older car's spring shackles were skipped during periodic lubes, and the grease hardened making the fittings difficult to impossible to lubricate the bushings. New shackle part will eliminate noise, and benefit the ride.

  You can also remove the Zero fitting and insert a small rod or something to see if there is an obstruction.
