Topic: '46 Coupe Headliner Windlace

The windlace in a section above the passengers door has come loose, and I am looking for ideas on how to put it back up in place and secure it.

The windlace just tucks behind a metal piece that is covered by headline material. The metal piece has serrations that look like shark teeth that grab the material to hold it in place. You'll need a tool like a putty knife without the sharp edges to tuck the windlace back up behind the metal strip.

The metal pieces are headliner retainers and mount above the front door openings see photo.

Trijford. Which side of the wind lace is the preferred side to push up with the putty knife?

I usually rotate side to side. The material is only sewn along the edge of the core. The selvage is not sewn on the edges, so pushing up on one side can cause the material on the other side to gather up at the edge. Just for info you can buy a headliner tool on e-Bay for about $11. Just do a search for "headliner tool". Harbor Freight also has some plastic tools that may also work.
