Good evening......What are the thoughts on running unleaded fuel in the flatheads......I am assuming I should use a lead additive along with it but wanted to see the thoughts on the subject.
Thanks in advance !

Here come the answers -- and you will get a lot of them. Here are just some quick ones.
Unleaded ethanol fuel is good for modern vehicles. In your older vehicle you will encounter all sorts of little problems -- like rust in the gas tank, neopreme disolving, and the wonderful vapor lock due to the fuel not being volatile enough.
Here is a link for non-oxgenated fuels all over the USA.

Make it one of your internet favorites. Otherwise there does not seem to be a need to add lead additives -- some do, some dont.

You will certainly hear from others on this topic. And then there is the issue of fuel stabilizers................

In my experience, using unleaded, 10% Ethanol gasoline in our Ford Flatheads is OK. I have run it in all of the ones I've owned over the years with no known ill effects.

The main reason to use a lead additive is that the valve seats deteriorated without it. Ford used hardened seats for the valves in all of the motors up to 1953, so there is no need for the lead additive.

IMHO all of the additives sold to "protect" your engine are "profit improvers", that is they do very little good and are over priced to improve the profits of the manufacturer and seller. I do NOT suggest that any of them be added regularly to the oil or gas.

There is the exception of Stabil and Seafoam, which prevent the gas from going bad from infrequent use. The modern fuels can start to deteriorate in as little as 3 months. So you should add one of them regularly to your fuel.
