Is there a particular coolant type that should be used on a standard flathead other than the typical Prestone type of coolant?

I run with water and a rust inhibitor. In the winter I put in Sierra antifreeze. I prefer Sierra, because it foams less than Prestone and it is less likely to cause serious engine damage if a head gasket leak occurs. Tom

TomO has the right info. I use Sierra also. The only thing I would add is to use distilled water with your antifreeze. This avoids lime and calcium buildup if the water in your area is hard.
