Topic: Hood and trunk props for 1938 coupe

I'm wondering if anyone with the original hood and trunk prop setups on their 1938 car might be able to send me photos. (Mine's a standard coupe,if it matters.) Apparently some previous owner of my car, after kinking the hood, removed the props. My hood prop is still there, attached at the bottom, so the mounting on the hood is of particular interest to me, ie, bolt type and nay washers or bushings. My trunk prop is completely gone.

Also, would anyone have a lead on where I might be able to source some used pieces?

Many thanks.

Tim, There was a recent post I helped a guy with on 6/1/2010. See if that helps you. Don

Thanks Don. That does help. I think I can get the hood prop working with some hardware store stuff.

Anybody know who might have a prop assembly for the trunk?

You can put a want ad in this web-site for one. They are out there. I have seen them for sale. Good Luck!

Done! I hadn't noticed the classifieds on the home page. Thanks for the tip!
