The two door locks recently failed on my 1953 Ford Passenger Car. I bought a lock repair kit from Carpenter which included a new lock cylinder for the ignition switch. I want all three of these locks to function with one key so now I have to replace the lock cylinder in the ignition switch with the new one. What is the easiest way to replace the ignition switch lock cylinder? Please advise. Thank you.

hi car crazy if you have a tiny hole next to the IGNITION key you can use a small blunt pin or a paper clip and push in [ you will feel spring tension and rotate the lock with the key in it and pull it out, just watch how it came out, I am thinking to the left, BE SURE TO DISCONNECT the Battery,!!!!!!!!!!!! it has been 30 years since I had to do this, you can BING and watch a video, hope this helps, This message was edited by 37RAGTOPMAN on 5-6-20 @ 8:18 AM

The other method was to push down on a spring lock. You will probably have to remove the switch to get at it. You might try lubricating your door locks with graphite, sometimes this works. Thank you. I have already replaced the door locks with new ones. Both of the original locks had failed. The left one only unlocked the door and the right one was jammed so it would not allow the key to be fully inserted. I will tackle the ignition lock today. Thank's again for your help.

Consider having your door locks repaired? or have the new door locks repined to the code of your ignition? So your ignition cylinder does not have to be replaced.
