Topic: brake reline

I had my brakes relined for my '36 Ford touring sedan 4dr. Now I cannot get the drum to fit over the new reline. What can I do to get the drum to fit? They are the original rod brakes.

I had the same problem. Turned out my NOS drums were 12.000 and the supplier that did the relining assumed that everybody's drums would be out at least .030. I sent the shoes back to the suppler and they arced them for the 12.000 drums and they worked fine. It is hard to find someone to do this other than a place that does relining as a business. Try contacting your local EFV8 club and see if there is someone the members use.

Flatfoot: Where are you located?? Some put sandpaper inside the drums and then rub the shoes on the paper to "arc" them. Use a rough grit. Just an idea. Are the adjusters backed all the way off??

Yes the adjusters are backed off. Probably need to have them arced. Thank you for responding.
