I recently noticed a strange feature on a 36 pickup bed side that I have never seen before, and it is driving me nuts at this point. I can't wait to get to the archives to check it out. So in the interim, can anyone shed some light on the subject if your truck has this feature. Here it goes. On the side of the bed, on a mostly original 36 pickup, I saw a bracket, or brace, that runs up the side of the bed, at about center of the rear fender. This brace runs up the bed side and turns outward where the top of the bed side turns outward. This feature is common on the 37 pickup bed side, but I had never seen one on a 36. Looking at some pictures of another 36 PU I noticed this same brace or bracket. The most recent find was on a 36 Deluxe pickup, but I do not think that has anything to do with the brace. The first one I noticed it on had a May 36 bug on an original back glass, and the second one I have seen has an 18-332XXXX serial number, so this feature was added sometime around May and apparently ran on through the end of 36 production.
