Topic: 36 Ford trunk latch locks

I have a 1936 Ford fordor sedan humpback which is new to me. The keys that I have will not open the locks on the trunk lid. They are locked but in the unlatched position, thus allowing anyone access to the trunk. My question is how do I remove the lock cylinder from the latch to take it to a locksmith? The car is currently in storage. Thank, Al

Have you tried all the keys you have for the car? Also lubricate the cylinder with a GOOD light penetrating oil. If that does not work, you should be able to remove the lock side of the latch from the trunk and send it to one of the locksmiths on the fordbarn.com such as 32 Phil. He usually has very good luck and will make you a new key on the proper blank.

well I should have checked 32phil first, however I used C&G early ford parts.... new trunk hinges part # 48-706902 keys and all
However get ready to hit your pocketbook.. and guess where they are made. I contacted a place in USA, seems their mold was purchased and they do not fabricate the hinges anymore.

My 36 Humpback has 3 keys. Ignition, door & trunk. I had to WD40 all the locks and with the key installed work them back & forth until them loosened.
