Topic: Parts wanted ads

kubes40    -- 02-09-2020 @ 9:11 AM
Just have to wonder why folks advertise for parts wanted and do not respond to correspondence.
I tend to respond to these ads as I enjoy helping folks out.
Still, only one in perhaps five respond.
Whether or not they no longer need the part is not the issue. It's simply proper manners.

  Amen to that Mike.

Funny, but in the past week or so, I have responded to five wanted ads. The ONLY fellow to reply was from the United Kingdom. See, there are folks with manners. Too bad that apparently there are few, if any (by my small sample) in the USA.

I wish you messaged me mike that you had a 39 radio delete panel that I have an ad for . I would have answered you in a heartbeat. haha

Not sure if it was you but recently I'd sent two emails to an ad that was looking for 39 plate. No response from either - perhaps a week apart from one another.

Let me interject here --- I receive at least two emails a month from the site that informs me that an email address is not valid after a person creates a new UserID and password to this site.
That could be one of the reasons as to why you send a reply, and it does not get answered.

  Web Ad,
I am confident that in some cases this may be the cause. However, having the correct contact information is not only prudent when attempting to locate parts, but incumbent upon the member to be certain their information is in fact correct.

Currently I've sent three emails to a guy wanting a top tank for a '40 radiator. No response to any of the three. I was more than willing to ship a nice one for nothing more than the postage.

People should respond, but I also find that in the old car community, there are some who are really tough to reach. They don't go on line often or even listen to phone messages. We are an odd lot, it seems.

  Mhsprecher,
Yeah, I'd have to include myself in that "odd lot" you'd mentioned.
Enjoy your weekend my V8 friend!
