Topic: 1937 V8-60 Throttle

estep    -- 02-04-2020 @ 11:54 AM
I purchased a partial basket case 37 Model 74 Tudor Touring Sedan with a V8-60 engine and Stromberg 81 carburetor. I am missing a throttle rod - the one that attaches to the carb and to the accelerator. The normal parts suppliers don't list the V8-60 rod. Can anyone tell me the exact length of the original rod so I can properly search the swap meets.
Thanks, Stephen

The common link between the firewall and the carb for 33-38 rod is 10 3/4". 39-48 is 10 3/8. There is no separate listing in my library for the V8-60.

I couldn't find the right length rod for our 38 conv,(don't know why), so bought one had it cut to fit and welded, ground down and buffed, couldn't tell it,

The correct P/N for the 1937-40 60HP accelerator rod that goes to the carburetor is 74-9747 and it is 8.44" from center line of holes.

This is from the Green Book page 451

Thanks to fordv8j and TomO for the info. I have an extra 10-3/8" rod which I will cut down and weld to the proper length. Problem solved.
