To save me the time and trouble of crawling under the dash, can someone please tell me which stud on the back o the gauges is hot, and which is ground?? I think looking at the back of the gauge the left is hot, and that would mean that the right side is ground..

One of my 50's runs at 180-182 degrees (with a thermometer in the radiator fill) when fully warmed up, and the gauge reads 3/4 to the right. ( hot side)

I want to take my NOS gauge and "jury rig" it to the temp sender in the cylinder head ,and see what it reads, if it reads nearer the center, then I'll be able to confirm that the gauge is bad! I think more often than not, they are the culprit!!
