Topic: 1939 Ford convertible front seat lapbelt install

As a new member, I have purchased a 1939 deluxe 4 dr convertible sedan. My wife has, for good reason, requested seat belt installation. The back seat installation is not a problem. The front seat has an issue. As the back frame of the front seat is welded to the body, it appears I must cut four slots through a metal shelf for the lap belts to fit the fabric through the rear portion of the front seat. It appears that the rear portion of the front seat slides onto this metal shelf and anchors the front portion of the seat with two bolts on each side bracket.

Has anyone solved this problem with ease? If so, would you mind sharing your technique? Thanks in advance.
Regards,
Beau
