2 quick questions about my '50 convertible. Where are the bottom of the 2 hood springs attached? Does anyone have a method to install the horn wiring through the steering box and up to thru the steering column. I tried a stiff wire but it keeps hitting against the inside of the steering gear. Thanks for any suggestions.

The best way to install the horn wire is from the top down then you can twist the wire until it clears thru the hole at the bottom. Don

Just finished replacing the horn wire on a '49. I'm sure there are more than one way to run the wire, but I ran a stiff metal wire up from the bottom to the steering wheel. After the wire reached the steering wheel I taped the new horn wire to the metal wire and pulled it through. It took one try. Jim Farrell

This tip won't help if you have already pulled to old wire from the shaft. We attach a length of strong plastic fishline to the old wire, and pull it down (or up), then attach the new wire to the line and pull it into place.

Thanks Jim, Big Red and everyone who responded. Sounds like I need more patience. I'll try again after I clean the oil puddle on the garage floor and get a better work light. Steve Lillie
