as some of you know i am trying to get my 41 1/2 ton road ready. i have learned some very hard lessons about fuel. my carb power valve was bad and leaking and end result was about 3 qts of gas in the oil. Now it has a rod knock. Do i have to pull the engine or can i access from underneath? I have the pan loose, but can't seem to get it off.

Howdy, even though you have the pan loose, did you try putting fresh oil in it? Have heard of the same problem and fresh oil & filter solved the knock..... Think you have to drop the tie rod to remove pan....others know much more than me. Wish you well, mike

hi flathead rod knock I would pull the pan and check the oil pump screen and see if is clogged , how is the oil pressure ? before that,,,, remove one spark plug wire one at a time [while running,] to locate which cylinder is making noise, you can remove that connecting rod cap and check the rod journal for any damage, it also might be a bad timing gear making a tapping noise, clicking noise,? lets hear how you made out, 37 RAGTOPMAN
