Could a defective ignition switch cause the same symptons as a failing coil . Have replaced coil, points/cond, wires rotor/cap. Runs better, but still acts like weak spark or lean fuel. New Charlie carb & good fuel delivery. Any thoughts appreciated. THANKS !!! mike

Do you actually have a weak spark? Have you checked the input voltage to the coil? Is your condenser grounded properly, if it is loose inside the distributor it will weaken the spark? What exactly are your symptoms? Tom

Hi Tom, breaks up at higher rpm & falls on it face. No sticking valves, timing is correct. Sometimes acts like it's running out of gas, but we've checked all that. Thanks!

I would be inclined to check body to frame and engine grounds. It almost sounds like a bad connection. What year and electrical system are you dealing with?

Jump the coil 'jumper wire ' to battery , now is it better or the same. Next I say bad or weak condenser. Hate to say in my days condensers lasted for ever, Now made in some shack across the pond they are junk. Being a 1952 there is no resistor so 6vts should be at the coil from the ignition. And then I have gotten coils from, Napa junk out of the box. so, so simple with a voltmeter, check lets say firewall to engine -engine running should be -0-. and frame to body and to engine so if volt meter shows anything especially with a load like lights on, you have a ground leak.
