Topic: Fuel Sender Repair

Does anyone know a reasonable, good, repair shop for one? I phone (3) places listed in Hemmings, and the prices were $150 t0 $300!!

The one in my 1950 sedan always worked, but suddenly won't. I see some "tannish color" stuff caked around the head of the negative connection machine screw head, (inside the housing) where the resistor wire is connected to it, and think that may be the problem, but one has to take the cover off to get at it, and that resistor wire attached to that machine screw is so fine that I might cause more problems. Would a soaking in vinegar for a day or so, to clean it help?

The resistor wire look very good, and clean, and when I move the float arm I could see it move the "pick up" across it. I did spray some "CRC electrical grade 226 cleaner" in there, but it didn't help.

What to do??

Regards, Steve Lee
