Did the 1953 come stock with an under hood insulation blanket? My restoration shop says no, but Mac's sells them and I've seen it in some pics- thanks!

Yes, 1953 Fords came with underhood insulation. It was held in place by contact cement. The insulation pad was approximately 1" thick and measured 23 1/2" by 50". It was beveled in the rear to fit snugly to the rear hood support. The color of the pad was yellow although some original cars have been seen with a dark grey color pad. The pad has a circular area cutout over the air cleaner. On V-8 cars the cutout area is centered while it is offset on 6-cylinder cars.
