what do i have to disconnect to remove a steering box from a 40 coupe and does it drop down thru the bottom of the car

I have a 41 pickup that i have had completely taken apart and i believe the steering column has to be removed from the steering box and then the box can be removed. The steering shaft that goes up into the body is part of the box.
