Is anyone using a phenolic spacer on a 52 or 53 Ford car, and does it really help with percolation of our cr*p gasoline ? I usually open the hood after a run in hot weather which works pretty good, but that's not always convenient . Thanks in advance ! mike

There was a carburetor in the 70's called the Carter Thermoquad that had a complete body made of plastic to deal with the high underhood temperatures that had come with emission controls. Then came the long quest for a catalytic converter which is explained in a big exhibit at the Edison Institute (Henry Ford Museum) in Dearborn. Then little by little manufacturers adopted fuel injection of various types of which the piezo electric or transducer type made the stingiest squirts and made possible --- OK if you stopped reading. Vapor lock was partially a false flag for a leaking needle and seat that was due to dirt or rust from the tanks of aging gas stations. neoprene and viton could not solve that and fiberglass tanks has to avoid methanol that was tried for while. I have seen Chandler-Groves/Holley carburetors beaten senseless with a heavy adjustable wrench to cure "vapor lock."in the 60's.
