Topic: 1936 Ford Truck Front Body Panel Alignment

  Hi,
I'm doing the body work on my front fenders and grill on my 36 Ford truck and I will be assembling for a final test fitting before paint. Does anyone have any tips or old documentation for assembling and adjusting these body panels for this year of truck?

I am about to re-assemble my 1936 pickup -- in finished paint. The fabricator that pre-assembled it told me to use lots of Frog tape (painters tape) between the parts and on touching surfaces. Touch the tape to your pants or shirt to remove some of the sticky. This will help removing it when you need to pull it out of between parts.
I do have to admit that he had it together so well and looking so nice that I almost didn't want to take it apart to do the final paint.

Everything will have to be soft tightened as you go. Fitting the rear of the front fenders to the running boards is where to start and work towatd the front. Since everything will be soft tightened (hand tightened) you will be able to move things around as you go. You will need some spacers (washers) to help out, and as things come together you will be able to remove the washers as you get to final fit.
Plan for a few hours -- walk away and cut the grass or some other project and then come back. It was only assembled quickly once before -- that was in 1936 as it came down the assembly line.

Perfect, thanks! I will give that a try and see how it goes.
