i have an original 41 ford pickup radiator in my 41. after setting for a while i found a mouse nest in the radiator. hence overheating. question is do i have the old radiator cleaned or buy a new aluminum one. the top tank on mine has been repaired and will not clean up well. any suggestions?

The new one is the best choice. Years ago, there were lots of radiator "restorers" around the country. You could tell because most had piles of old radiators stacked nearby. Apparently their aim was to sell new radiators. Old Fords were particularly susceptible to overheating, as the exhaust was routed down through the water jacket, and anything that reduced efficiency caused the overheating. New radiators are not cheap, for sure, but they go a long way toward trouble free fun with your vehicle.

In the Rockies in 1953 in my family's 1953 Ford V-8, the cars we saw beside the road with hoods up and steam rising were Buicks.

Before you purchase an aluminum radiator, do some research on other sites. There seems to be a rash of problems with aluminum radiators lately. You might be better off with a copper/brass unit.
