I have a 1936 Ford with a 1948 Ford Engine I mo and I did not ved the battery from down in the floor up to the firewall on the Passenger side and when getting to start it I found out that I have power going to the Headlights and dash lights. So I started and now it will not fire . it is a 12 Volt battery and a friend of mine said maybe you burned the points ?? So how hard is it to see if the points are burn shout or stuck and Help out there ?/ I know the Distributor is in the front of the Engine

The distributor must be removed to visually inspect the points. They can also be checked by pulling a wire from one of the spark plugs and holding it an inch or so away from the head while cranking the engine. If the points are OK, you should get a good blue spark.

Have you checked to see if the coil is getting power?

When you changed to a 12 volt battery, did you change the coil? If you did not, you have probably burned out the coil.
