Topic: Parades

I’ve done a lot of Parades. 6th year in a row with our Mayor.
I’ve used a Shay, 31 A Coupe, Model A Speedster and a Buick Riviera.
He has asked for a ride in my 36.

With the A’s I could alternate between 1stand 2nd and just work the clutch. Never a problem.

I’ve swapped the 4:11 for a 3:78. I’m trying to decide how I’m going to do this.
I’m thinking low gear, speed up, clutch in and coast?

Parade about 2 miles and temp forecast of high 70’s.

May be an oddball question but I’m cautious and try to plan ahead.

Thanks

I am often asked to use my cars in parades. I pull the throttle out enough to provide a fast idle, and use the clutch to move, going to neutral if the parade slows or stops. If you have heating problems with your vehicle, it is better to not to parade. My '47 never heats in any situation, but my Model A is a different situation, and needs more fast idle time between stops. As I write this, the temperature is in the mid 90's, so I suspect there may be a lot of over heating, making me glad not to be out there.

Wow thanks for the Throttle idea.
It will make it easier.

  HI Parades
The V8 FORDS run hot, very hot in parades,
at least my 37 does,
I would test it first, to see what happens
my 2 cents 37Ragtopman

You might want to consider using an electric fan to keep the coolant temperatures within reason for parade use.

  I’ll do a test tomorrow
I do have dual exhaust and will be second in the parade. Forecast is now for rain
