I would like to find out the name of the dealer that sold the car new in 1935. Can I somehow use the VIN in researching out this info?

What you are asking is highly unlikely unless you can find or received some old documentation with the car. The VIN or ID # will only give you the sequential production # when the car was built. Department of Motor Vehicles will be of no help due to right to privacy laws in all states. Chasing down prior owners with a little detective work may be possible, but the chances of one or more prior owners passing away is highly likely.

Just to add to what TRJ has already said. Ford did not keep or has lost the engine assembly numbers that were sent to the assembly plants. Likewise the serial numbers of the finished cars that were sent to dealers are also lost. If you have reason to believe that your car never left the town you are in or the town where you purchased it you might try something else. Go to your local Ford dealer and determine if they were in business in 1935 or know what dealer was. You might just get very lucky and find that the dealer kept his old sales records. It would be a very very long shot though.
