Is there a site or reference that explains nomenclature used by Ford? For instance, what is the difference between a 59A engine and a 59AB?

Bill, The blocks Ford produced between 1945 and 1948 did have several different suffix letters after the 59, but never with an AB. Those suffix letters did appear on some heads, but not the blocks. As to the difference on the blocks, the only one I know for sure is that the 59L block was factory relieved.
