Topic: 46-48 radio speaker

billcarry    -- 04-04-2019 @ 9:29 AM
I bought a new speaker advertized on ebay as a 46-48. I could not install the radio when the speaker was in place. I cut the speaker magnet support (I don't now what else to call it) back enough to be able to get the radio in. but I now get only a lot of static and other noises. So I now have a junk speaker. Does anyone know how to describe the proper speaker? Does it have an OEM part number? Anyone know where I can get one?

I purchased one for my 42 and they will fit the 46-48. Only problem is I don't remember name of company. If I run across the old bill, I will post. I found it on the internet.

I've puchased a few for my 42, 48, 49, all fit and accommodate the radios with no alteration.
Call S&M Electro-Tech, Inc.
763-780-2861
8836 Xylite St NE
Blaine, MN 55449
If your connectors are missing or damaged they'll fix you up with what you need to plug in to your radio's speaker connection.
Go there on internet and order on line if you want.

Billcarry, it sound like you have a bad antenna connection. A damaged speaker would give you some sound other than static.

Hi Tom - I didn't describe what I get properly. I do get a faint play of a local station. I tried both with and without the antenna installed and the only difference was more noise volume with the antenna installed.

Yes, fsacht had the place where I got mine. No problem on fit.

Replacement speakers must not only fit, but be of the correct impedance to operate properly.

They will suggest which speaker to buy. They have 4 and 8 ohm speakers. I forget which one I got. Super is correct that you need the right ohm speaker.
