My 50 ford has dim lights- generator and battery are ok. Is extra grounding a good idea? Please help

Make sure all of the existing grounds in the headlight circuit are sound. Install a headlight relay to provide a direct path for current to the headlights.

Your lights need at least 6 volts at the bulbs in order to be at their normal brightness. A common problem is a corroded dimmer switch. Operate it many times and see if your lights get brighter.

You can do a voltage drop test to determine how much voltage you are loosing through the switches and connections. The test can also help you isolate the high resistance connections.

At their best, sealed beam lights are about 50% dimmer than new car lights.
