Topic: Ford Milestone Vehicles

FordModeler    -- 03-17-2019 @ 1:11 PM
I am hoping someone in your club might have the answers to my questions. I would like to build small scale model cars for the Ford milestone vehicles. what information I have collected is:
United States production milestones:
1 millionth - 1915 model t runabout [I HAVE ALL THE INFORMATION ON THIS VEHICLE I NEED]
5 millionth - 1921 model t coupe [I HAVE ALL THE INFORMATION ON THIS VEHICLE I NEED]
10 millionth - 1924 model t touring [I HAVE ALL THE INFORMATION ON THIS VEHICLE I NEED]
15 millionth - 1927 model t touring [I HAVE ALL THE INFORMATION ON THIS VEHICLE I NEED]
20 millionth - 1931 ford model a town sedan [I HAVE ALL THE INFORMATION ON THIS VEHICLE I NEED]
25 millionth - 1937 ford deluxe humpback sedan - I believe the exterior is white, I do not know the color of the interior. I also do not know the color of the milestone writing on the car's sides.
30 millionth - [NO INFORMATION] the 28 millionth ford was built on 4/8/1940 and the 31 millionth was built on 5/3/1945, which I imagine the 30 millionth was perhaps a wwII jeep or truck
35 millionth - [NO INFORMATION]
40 millionth - 1953 mercury monerey convertible. i have seen a color photograph of this car, but I do not have the date it was built.
45 millionth - [NO INFORMATION]
50 millionth - 1959 ford galaxie town sedan [I HAVE ALL THE INFORMATION ON THIS VEHICLE I NEED]
75 millionth - [NO INFORMATION]
100 millionth - 1978 ford fairmont futura 2-door [I HAVE ALL THE INFORMATION ON THIS VEHICLE I NEED]

World-wide production numbers
100 millionth - [NO INFORMATION]
200 millionth - [NO INFORMATION]
300 millionth - [NO INFORMATION] - i have information on a 2004 mustang convertible built on 11/28/2003, but i believe this to be US production totals and not Ford world-wide production.
400 millionth - [NO INFORMATION]
500 millionth - [NO INFORMATION]

To make the model car, I would need to know the exterior color and the interior color with (make/model & body style). It would be nice to know the date it was produced as I would like to display the model with this information. Any photos would be wonderful.

  Good Evening---

The 28th million Ford produced was a 1940 Deluxe 4 door Sedan. The late Lorin Sorenson produced some very informative VHS/DVDs about Early Ford V8s, including "It's Ford for "40". There is a picture of the 28th million Ford on both the VHS and the DVD. Unfortunately, it is a single, black and white photo of the car's exterior, and I would guess the exterior color to be Folk Stone Gray. I have no info about interior color - possibly a regular factory interior installation.

I don't see that Lorin's DVD series is still available for sale. I couldn't find it on the Online Store or on Ebay. 51 Woodie gave you a good lead with the Benson Ford Research Center website. I would try that next.

Good Luck.

The 27,000,000 Ford was a 1939 Deluxe. It was a Dartmouth green Tudor. It was displayed at the Golden Gate Exposition for a short time before it went on a 10,000 mile publicity tour for the New York World's Fair. The interior was probably a striped mohair, taupe in color. The dash and window moldings were wood grained with a mahogany color (not sure of the color) but Kube will probably chime in with the correct color plus other details.
Information comes from the EFV8Club album. You can purchase one from the club.

I checked Ebay - searched under "1940 Ford pictures" There is a picture of the 28th Million Ford for sale for $15.95. And yes, it does show it to be a 1940 model.

Ebay Item # 152534325312.

  Hi Tom,
Unless I missed something, I don't think you and I are in any disagreement.
Your information was in reference to the 194o, 28,000,000 car.
I only referenced 1939, the 27,000,000 car.
All good info...
Ken

  Good Afternoon, Ken---

Of course, you are correct! And I do owe you an apology. I have simply got to stop buying my eyeglasses at 7-11!

I read your email this morning (after having only ONE cup of coffee, which may have also been my problem). And I completely misread your "27,000,000..." entry and misinterpreted it, as I thought that you were referring to my "28th Million" email entry!!! WRONG!

You are totally correct about "all good info". Frankly, I did not know anything about the Dartmouth Green 1939 Tudor as being the 27th Million Ford. Interesting. And lastly, I agree with you that Mike can now fill in any additional information gaps that Ford Modeler may have.

No harm done. All's well that ends well.

Have a good week.

Tom

  I came across this item:

URL: http://www.earlyfordv8clubga.org/henryhistory.html

scroll down to the last page for THE FORD FAN the newsletter of the San Diego chapter of the EARLY FORD V8 CLUB

under the entry 1944, it reads: The 30 millionth ford produced. 1/3 of all vehicles ever produced in America were made by Ford Motor Co.

Would anyone know what vehicle that might be or is there any way of finding out?

scrolling down a bit further on that page it shows what Ford produced for the WWII effort.
