I'm trying to find out any info on adjusting old sloppy hood hinges on my 46 Ford. I tried Search with on luck.

RoHo The hinges need to be in good condition, or there is no use trying to adjust them. If they are worn, you will need to rebuild or replace with good units. There was an article by Mark Kicsak some time ago in the EFV8 magazine (link below). Hope this helps.

Don't waste time and effort trying to repair hood hinges. I ordered a set of "arm and spring supports" for my '47 at C&G (1/800266-0470). The part number for your '46 is 91A-16782/3. Not expensive and worth every cent. The geometry of the hinges is affected by the slightest wear of the pivots, and the strength of the springs. The hinges push the hood back as it closes on the firewall. Bad fit there is a common complaint.

If you can find a copy of the May/June 2009 copy of the V-8 Times Magazine there is a two page article on how to adjust the hood on '41 thru '48 Fords. It might be available on line.
