Topic: What is it?

In the process of restoring a 1941 Ford Pickup. Coming back up and putting things back on, but I'm stumped as to what this rod is and where it goes. I took lots of pictures, but do not see this rod.

Engine steady rod. One each side back to crossmember.

does it attach to the front of the engine?

Look where the transmission connects to the engine. There should be a edge of the casting the has a long hole that parallels the frame.
The left end (in your picture) attaches to the frame cross member and the straight end goes into the long casting hole by where the transmission attaches to the back of the engine. The rods (there should be 2- one for each side) connect on each side of the engine and then back to the cross member.
Don't have a picture to show -- sorry.

Here's a photo of the hole in the side of the bell housing where the threaded end of the steady rod is inserted.
