During the brake adjustment process we determined the king pin lower bushings are worn. Where is the best source to acquire the bushings?

Don't know what year or model you are working on, but if it is a passenger car from 1932 to 1941, this "Spindle Bolt Repair Kit" from MAC's should work:

From your Forum ID, I am assuming that you are talking about a 1938 Ford.

The kit, in the previous post, doesn't seem to include the king pin, which should also be replaced when the bushings are replaced. P/N 78-3111 kit is available from many vendors and does include the pin.

You might be able to find an original Ford Kit from Little Dearborn or Southside Obsolete in MN. There are a few other vendors that may still have the original kits. You can try a search at

I would prefer the original Ford bushings to the reproductions that are available. Once you have your kit, find a shop that does truck front end repairs to ream the bushings to fit the king pin.

In addition to the other good advice you have been given, you might also check e-Bay as there are often NOS kits and NOS replacement kits(USA made).

We buy the from C&G (800-266-0470. For the proper fit, it is a good idea to have a machine shop remove the old bushings and install the new ones. Take your king pins along so the new bushings can be fitted. At our shop we use a Sunnen piston pin hone, as most reamers are not adequate to do the job. Be sure holes are drilled in the new bushings for the grease fittings.
