  I have a 1946 convertible and trying to figure out what type of seal goes between the front vent window frame and the windshield post..

  There is a stainless piece that screws to the windshield post. It's grooved and an "L" shaped piece of rubber slips into the grooves. When the door is closed the vent window closes against the rubber. You can buy the stainless and the rubber from most of the V-8 parts vendors. You will have to cut and fit the stainless and rubber. It's the same rubber/stainless that is found on your top bows that seal the top of the windows. It's not really weatherproof, it just slows down the water.

  I agree with my friend, Tom. When I restored my '47 convertible I ordered the kit from C&G, 11A76205-S. As you may have learned, convertibles often require unique parts separate from closed cars. This was because, owing to the relative low production volume for open cars, the bodies were provided from non Ford sources.
