Can a 12 volt battery or 12 volt car be used to jumpstart my 6 volt ‘50 Ford car with jumper cables in case of dead battery?

Certainly. Get the polarity right and connect one lead only, have a helper connect and disconnect the other lead. Don't have lights or radio turned on at the time. It will spin fast, let it spin until it catches, don't let it hit on and off multiple times, as that would be hard on your bendix.

Do not connect the jumper cables to the battery!!!!

Connect the NEG cable to the starter cable connection on the solenoid and then switch on the ignition and make sure the trans is in neutral and the parking brake on. Then connect the POS cable to a good ground. The starter should turn fast and the engine should start.

Do not touch the starter button as that will connect 12 volts to the rest of the car.
