Anyone have a source for the casting numbers on the shock body and arms for the front and rear shocks. Appears my 40 has mismatched shocks. They are needing rebuilt so I’d rather find the correct rebuildables if I can. Thanks for any help you can provide. Dave

Hi Dave, I have a '40 Fordor that I bought as a basket case. I assume the shocks came from this car, but no guarantees. I will plan to look for casting numbers when I'm with the car tomorrow, Sunday. Barney

Look for the round body of the shocks to be about 2 7/8" diameter, this is smaller than the later shocks. Front arms are embossed (not stamped) F-837 plus Ford script and the number 10. Rear arms are embossed F-745 and with Ford script. This message was edited by 40 Coupe on 1-6-19 @ 4:42 AM
