I have a 33 ford radio and was wondering if anyone else has hooked up an antenna, using a more modern style connector (male to female) rather than the original type (twist connector) I don`t wish to ruin the original connector. Or if and where to get an original style antenna?

Thanks I think you are correct about the running board ant. Car has a cowl mount plug in ant now and I was hoping to just adapt to an original radio.
