Topic: 1937 Trunk Seal

The last few weeks, actually August and September is has been raining a lot here (Wisconsin). The other day was the first time I had the need to go into the trunk. I needed some spare parts I have in there and I found everything soaking wet. The trunk seal had a three or four inch section missing. So, into the garage and the lid came off and the old seal removed. The channel was cleaned and straightened. Then I painted it, although with a brush. The car has to wait some time before I have enough money for a proper paint job, so Rust O Leum will have to do the job. My experience with weather strip in the past has not been good. Seems the stripping I would get was on the hard side and would not form to the channels bends very well and would pop out prior to the adhesive drying. And some times the strip was not exactly the correct shape and had to be forced in. Well, I was pleasantly surprised. I ordered 11 feet of weather strip from Steele Rubber and it fits perfect. It is soft, the correct size, so it fits nice and snug. The point of this post is to thank Steele for making a restoration product that I think works! Mike
