How many ohms, full, and how many ohms empty, should the unit have at the sender on my '50 sedan?? Should I also have the same readings at the gauge?? Regards, Steve Lee

I don't know. You did not tell me if you have an original sending unit or an aftermarket unit. Tom

"Aftermarket" is the answer to your question. I'd also like to know the ohm readings, full and empty, for an original. (just in case I can find a supposedly good used one.) Regards, Steve Lee

Aftermarket sending units for Ford pre-'86 is 73 empty and 10 full. Good luck getting an aftermarket sending unit to read reasonably accurate through the scale on an original King Seely gauge. Your last statement is probably a good idea; to know when your empty, or near empty is much more important than the other readings accuracy. Thank you for that. The unit this car had in it when I got it was a Bob Drake- What year it is of- who knows?? I found out it was bad when I ran out of gas when it said it had 1/4 of a tank!! They are impossible to adjust to read right! I tried every thing that I could to no avail!! Doug, at Carpenter, told me they sell a repro that they make, and they have had none, or very few returns of them. Is there anybody on the forum that has used one, or heard of someone that has??
