Considering powder coating a pair of cast iron 60 horse heads an aluminum color to resemble cast aluminum. Anyone with experience doing this and are there high temperature paints that work just as good? Looking for advice.

John, the place that does my powder coating has a sign posted that states, "We do not powder coat cast iron, home heating radiators". When I asked them about it I was told that the powder coating insulates the radiator and prevents it from dissipating the heat in the room. You might ask your powder coater what they think. It might cause overheating issues.

  John,
While I have powder finished exhaust manifolds with great results, I would not consider powder finishing cylinder heads for the exact reason mentioned in a previous post. Cylinder heads must dissipate heat.
I have glass beaded aluminum heads with wonderful results. they look as "new" without looking fake.

FWIW....My ‘34 (37 motor) has cast iron heads, i used Alumi-Blast coating on the heads. Compared to the original aluminum manifold, I think they are a close match and I am happy with the results...Have over 500 miles on them since coating and no problems with flaking or discoloration at all.

Great photo, thanks. Very nice finish. Think I will head that direction with my iron heads.
