Topic: ODD Intake Manifold Help ID???

Doc-Owen    -- 08-27-2018 @ 11:45 AM
I am hoping somebody can help me ID this Flathead Intake Manifold. I am out of my depth on this. (Pretty ignorant actually) I recognize this as a Flathead Intake and maybe 1933? But it is odd. I am mystified by the butterfly valve in the Carb base, and the piping on the under side.

My thinking on the piping was that somebody added a NOS (Nitrous) system to it? Or is this some sort of Aftermarket / Homegrown Fuel Injection system?

The only marking on the intake is a circle with a "1" in it.

Any ideas what this is, or isnt???

Thanks in advance!!!!!!

I have never seen plumbing like that on an intake manifold but my guess is that it is for a '32-'33 Ford equipped with a single barrel Detroit Lubricator carburetor....

Post this question on the fordbarn. I bet you'll get some excellent answers. This is right up their alley!

It's a heavily-modified '33 manifold. None of the additional components are production parts with the possible exception of the butterfly valve taken from the base of a Detroit Lubricator carburetor.

I wonder if that was the "Fish" system guaranteed to get 100 MPG ?
As the story goes Mr Fish, his invention and his Ford vanished from the
planet. Most likely he got cement shoes and is at the bottom of the
ocean. ?????

there was a "Fish" carb they ran them in NAASCAR, before those cars became cookie cutter cars
